This past June, the Legislature passed up a huge opportunity to make NJ more affordable and resilient by failing to finally pass the Polluters Pay Act. Over the past few months, we’ve seen the gravity of that choice: a summer of extreme storms, extreme heat, and extreme costs to life and property.

This month, the Legislature is coming back from their two-month vacation, and we want “MAKE POLLUTERS PAY” to be the very first message they see upon their return.

On Thursday, September 10 and Monday, September 14, we welcomed the Legislature back to session after their 2-month vacation and call on them to pass the Polluters Pay Act! Demonstrators gathered outside to welcome the Legislature back and remind them that the Polluters Pay Act isn’t going away.

Thursday, September 24
9:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Outside of the NJ State House
131-137 West State St., Trenton

Next, the first big lobby day of the fall session will be Thursday, September 24, which marks the first voting session of the Assembly since June 30. All members of the Assembly will be in Trenton, and it will be a great opportunity to re-engage your legislators on the Polluters Pay Act and get the job done before the end of the year. As the first big action of the fall, it will be a great opportunity to bring new people into the campaign – so bring a friend!

The Polluters Pay Act has made it through all necessary committees, and is only awaiting floor votes in the Assembly and Senate. Your help can get it over the finish line before year’s end.
